CCHO and ISPOR KSU Successfully Conclude the Educational Series on Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)
The Center for Clinical, Health Outcomes and Outcomes Research (CCHO) is proud to announce the successful completion of the final session of the ISPOR KSU and CCHO collaborative educational series, which brought together participants from across the MENA region to enhance their knowledge in key areas of health economics, outcomes research, and health technology assessment.
The concluding session, titled “You Voice Matters: Exploring Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) and Personalized Healthcare,” offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the significance of PROs in improving healthcare decision-making. The session features presentations from two esteemed speakers: Dr. Fatima AlSayah from CCHO, and Dr. Monira Alwhaibi from King Saud University (KSU).
Dr. Fatima AlSayah, PRO lead at CCHO, covered:
– The definition of patient-reported Outcomes (PROs),
– Different types and features of PRO measures (PROMs), and their applications in various context such as clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, population health assessment & others.
Subsequently, Dr. Mounira Alwhaibi, Clinical Pharmacy Professor at KSU, delivered an insightful presentation about:
- The Saudi Arabia’s national PROMs Strategy,
- Patient-reported Outcomes Applications in Saudi Arabia, aligning with Vision 2030 goals for better health, care, and value.

The session was expertly moderated by Dr. Lea Ghajar, Business Development Associate at CCHO, whose guidance ensured an engaging and thought-provoking discussion.
The session concluded with a highly engaging Q&A section, followed by a final quiz that brought together key insights from all five sessions covered throughout the series. Congratulations to the top winners Mikael Ziade from Lebanon, and Khalid Altulayhi, Layal AlAbkka, Reema Alklaib, and Reem Matran from Saudi Arabia, who were recognized for their achievements and awarded for their outstanding performance.
The top winner will have the incredible opportunity to complete a one-month internship at CCHO, enjoy a one-on-one meeting with CCHO and ISPOR KSU speakers of their choice. Winners ranked 2nd to 5th will be awarded a one-year ISPOR membership.
This collaborative initiative between CCHO and ISPOR KSU marks a significant milestone in fostering knowledge-sharing and building capacity in health economics and outcomes research. The series successfully brought together esteemed speakers, interactive discussions, and practical insights to empower participants with skills and knowledge critical for evidence-based decision-making in healthcare. Over 80 participants from all over the MENA region have participated and joined the series. With over 80 participants from across the MENA region, the series demonstrated the growing interest and commitment to advancing expertise in HEOR and its applications.
