Aims:

The Primary Aim of this study is to develop a value set for the EQ-5D-5L health states based on the preferences of the Qatari general population.

Secondary aims are to:

1) Examine the construct validity of the EQ-5D-5L instrument in Qatar general adult population.

2) Develop population norms for the EQ-5D-5L.

3) Identify determinants of preferences in the Qatari population.

4) Explore the impact of culture and religion on completing preference elicitation exercises; and

5) Compare value sets derived from cTTO-based, hybrid, and DCE with duration (DCEd) methodologies, in order to assess the consistency and agreement among these valuation approaches.

Methods:

This will be a cross-sectional population-based study involving interviewer-administered in person or online interviews following the EuroQol EQ-5D-5L valuation protocol and using the EuroQol Valuation Technology (EQ-VT).

A sample of 1150 adults will be recruited from the Qatari general population using a two-stage quota sampling.

Interviews will be conducted by trained research assistants who will undergo a 3-day training and will take place at a private and convenient settings depending on the participant’s preferences.

EuroQol quality control processes will be followed to ensure high quality data.
